Kyle Grantham is presently a freelance photographer based between Baltimore, Md. and Philadelphia, Pa.
Until December 2011 Kyle was a staff photojournalist at the Evansville Courier & Press in Evansville, Ind. where he started the previous December in 2010. Since joining the staff, Kyle remained in the top 10 in NPPA's Region 4 in the NPPA Monthly Clip Contest and was awarded a Best of Scripps award for the second quarter of 2011 for his work covering C.J.'s Bus and their relief efforts in Tuscaloosa (see the story, "Bringing Comfort Amid Destruction") following April's devastating tornadoes. Kyle also won Best Special Section for the story and photos at the 2011 HSPA Awards.
Kyle is a 2010 graduate of Ohio University. As an undergraduate student he served as the Director of Photography at The Post, Ohio University's daily and independent student-run newspaper where the photo staff won numerous Associated Press awards. Prior to taking over as the Director of Photography, Kyle was a staff photographer for three years.
Kyle was awarded a multimedia fellowship from E.W. Scripps prior to graduation and completed the fellowship at The Sacramento Bee in the summer of 2010. In prior summers, Kyle interned at The News Journal in Wilmington, Del. in 2009 and at the Cecil Whig which serves Cecil County, Md. in the spring of 2008.
Kyle spent the summer of 2007 in Edinburgh, Scotland as part of the Ohio University Field School in Documentary Photojournalism run by Ohio University VisCom Director Terry Eiler.
Kyle is a native of Port Deposit, Md., located between Baltimore and Philadelphia in the northeast corner of Maryland.
